The job of Paraprofessional was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in the regular classroom or in a self-contained classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time; providing information to appropriate school personnel; and attending IEP meetings.
Minimum requirements:
- High school diploma.
- Must acquire status as a Highly Qualified Paraprofessional.
- Participation, successful completion, and passing required professional development events, in-services, and trainings.
- Experience with children.
- Flexible and reliable.
- Ability to work effectively and regularly with a computer.
- Must have adequate verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to function under the direction of the teacher.
- Possess good judgment.
- Ability to establish rapport with students.
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with program staff.
- Reliable means of transportation.
Please note this position is a full time, 10-month position. Summer work is available with additional compensation.
